Operation Homefront was honored to join with Wells Fargo and award a mortgage-free home to U.S. Army Specialist Oscar Sosa, his wife and three children. The home was awarded as part of our Homes on the Homefront program. The Sosa family will soon be moving into their new home in St. Charles, IL. Learn more about U.S. Army Specialist Oscar Sosa:
Oscar Sosa’s brother was an infantryman in the Army and saw his brother as a role model. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Oscar wanted to do his part as an American too and serve his country. In 2005, he enlisted in the Army because he wanted to be just like his brother, who had a major influence in his decision to become a service member.

In 2006, Oscar was deployed to Iraq for 15 months. As an infantryman, he was a member of a fire team conducting drills and combat. He was on the front lines assisting in the mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry. He was honorably discharged in 2008.

Oscar and his wife Jessica have three children, Emma who is seven, Abigail who is five, and Charlie who is three-years-old. They are living in a two bedroom apartment in Willowbrook, which is difficult to live in with a family of five. Several years ago, Oscar had a spinal fusion, which was the result of a back injury while serving in the Army. He hasn’t been able to work due to the surgery. Jessica is a full-time mom caring for their children and at times for Oscar. She heard about the Homes on the Homefront program through the Hearts of Valor program at Operation Homefront and told Oscar about it and decided to apply.

Thanks to Operation Homefront and Wells Fargo, Oscar will receive a mortgage-free home in St. Charles, Illinois. Oscar is currently enrolled at a local college and is pursuing a criminal justice degree. His plans are to graduate in two years. His future family plans are to take a vacation and spend quality time, since he hasn’t taken his family on a vacation.

“I thank Operation Homefront and Wells Fargo for everything,” said Oscar. We really appreciate everything with the donation of the home.”

“Hopefully we can give back to the community and time to assist in raising awareness about the Homes on the Homefront program,” added Oscar. “This is a great opportunity for myself and my family.”
