Idaho Family Receives Operation Homefront's 100th Mortgage-Free Home

Operation Homefront reached a major milestone this week by presenting its 100th mortgage-free home to a veteran and his family. The home, in the Boise, Idaho area, was awarded to former Army Sergeant Aaron Woods and his family through Operation Homefront's Homes on the Homefront program.

The Woods family's new home was provided by Chase, which along with Wells Fargo and Bank of America, has accounted for all 100 of the donated homes awarded by Operation Homefront.

"The milestone highlights one year's worth of commitment to serving our nation's military families through our permanent housing program," said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront. "We have been able to place 100 military families in permanent housing, where they will no longer have to worry about the monthly financial burden of paying a mortgage. While this milestone is tremendous for Operation Homefront, it really is about the families. It is just a small price to pay for what each one of these 100 military families has had to sacrifice during their time serving our country."

Woods, and his wife Jenny are both attending Boise State University, where he is studying computer science, and she is studying radiology. Jenny Woods grew up in Boise and has many family members in the area.

"What a tremendous blessing this whole situation is," said Aaron Woods. "To have a stable place to live after moving around so much in the past, is just amazing. It will allow our daughter to grow up with life-long friends and not have to worry about moving around and losing those relationships. It's great to know that there are so many other people out there that care. To be a veteran that was taken care of through the generosity of Operation Homefront and Chase is just so humbling and words cannot express our gratitude for such a blessing."

"The level of commitment by our friends and partners at Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America has been extremely important to the whole process," said Knotts. "Without them our permanent housing program would not exist."
