Air National Guardsman Tariq Fladger, and his family, were recently awarded a mortgage-free home, thanks to our friends at Chase as part of our Homes on the Homefront program. To make the award even more special, they were invited on Fox & Friends Weekend in New York City recently. Their appearance on the show was part of a segment about the Cracker Barrel "Operation Rocker" initiative that also benefits Operation Homefront. We are grateful to generous partners like Chase and Cracker Barrel who help share our mission of building strong, stable, and secure military families.
Learn more about the family:
Tariq’s cousin was a recruiter for the Navy and his influence into joining the military. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he saw his cousin’s lifestyle and liked it. In 2008, he joined the Air National Guard to serve his country.
As a local recruiter, Tariq interviews numerous applicants and discusses requirements to become a service member of the National Guard. In 2014, he was deployed to Afghanistan and Qatar. His plan is to continue to serve his country and retire after 20 years.
Tariq and his wife, Ivory, have two sons - Titus, 3, and Isaac, 13 months. They had been living in an apartment in Philadelphia. Tariq heard about Operation Homefront’s Homes on the Homefront program through a posting at his base. There was a home available in the area and he applied.
Thanks to Operation Homefront and Chase, Tariq moved into a mortgage-free home in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania in June. This is an area that the family is familiar with, and the Fladgers plan to stay in this home for a long time. The school district is excellent for their children. Tariq and Ivory are excited for their future.
“The opportunity to own a house is going to help tremendously,” said Tariq. “Everything’s about the children – this will be good for them.”
“We would like to thank Operation Homefront and Chase for blessing our family with a home that we can raise our children in and build memories,” said Tariq. “It is incredible what they are doing for our family and we will be forever grateful.”
